COURSE OFFERINGS AND DESCRIPTIONS
From CPR, first aid and automated external defibrillator (AED) training to injury prevention courses, bloodborne pathogens training and community disaster education, Red Cross training offers complete, flexible programs that help your company stay prepared for virtually any life-threatening situation. Build the program that works for your business using our modular curriculum.
Workplace Training: First Aid (5 1/2 hours): Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This course covers first aid and adult CPR. Workplace Training: Standard First Aid with AED is available in a 6 1/2 hour course with AED training included.
Adult CPR (4 hours): For employers who need adult CPR training only, this hands-on skills training prepares participants to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults. Adult CPR / AED is available in a 4-1/2 hour course with AED training included.
Infant and Child CPR (5 1/2 hours): Designed for childcare providers, teachers, parents and others who care for children, this course teaches participants how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children up to 8 years.
Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission (2 hours): This newly-updated course meets OSHA's revised Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. This course teaches participants how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to prevent exposures and what to do if exposed to infectious materials.
Injury Control Modules (1 hour each): Focusing on common causes of worksite injuries and key health risks, these one-hour awareness-level modules highlight risks and promote prevention. Self-assessments help employees recognize risky habits. Demonstrations and lively discussions reinforce practical prevention tips. Modules include: Ergonomics; Slips, Trips and Falls; Back Injury Prevention; Workplace Violence Awareness; Managing Stress; and Your Heart Matters.
- Ergonomics: Participants learn to reduce the risk of repetitive stress injuries by improving posture, rearranging work areas,using proper tools and doing simple exercises.
- Slips, Trips and Falls: Topics include the causes of accidents and remedies for common hazards, plus practical advice on shoe selection, ladder safety and injury prevention programs.
- Back Injury Prevention: Beginning with back anatomy, participants assess the causes of their back pain and learn how posture, stretching and safe lifting skills can reduce the risk of injury.
- Workplace Violence Awareness: Realistic scenarios help participants recognize and reduce the risk of impending workplace violence and learn ways to improve their personal safety and security.
- Managing Stress: Discussions focus on the cause of stress to help individuals recognize their stressors and develop practical stress-reduction strategies for work and personal lives.
- Your Heart Matters: Targeting key lifestyle factors, such as smoking, diet and exercise, this module helps people take steps to adopt healthier behaviors and reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
